Many people with depression hide it in plain sight. It is actually a category in and of itself, known as Perfectly Hidden Depression (PHD). In some cases, it is not so perfectly hidden, and a friend or family member may be able to detect signs, such as an impact on appetite or small outbursts of anger. People with PHD often have empathy for everyone but themselves and typically mask any signs of depression with other behaviors, developing coping mechanisms that allow others to believe they’re feeling extroverted and energetic when they are actually feeling the opposite. If you think someone you know is suffering from depression, talk to them or their closed ones, and be sure to help them seek the help they need. Read the rest of the signs here.

During the time of Coronavirus social distancing, I am using a secure telehealth method for appointments. Also, during this Coronavirus emergency, many states are allowing their residents to be treated, via telepsychiatry, by psychiatrists who are licensed elsewhere. If you would like to work with me, please don’t hesitate to contact my office.
